Ori Green

Dr. Ori Green (PI)

Ori Green completed his undergraduate studies at Tel-Aviv University in 2014, earning his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Continuing his academic journey, Ori pursued both his Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Organic Chemistry at Tel-Aviv University, working under the guidance of Professor Doron Shabat (2014-2020). In April 2020, he started a postdoctoral position at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, under the mentorship of Professor Bill Morandi, where he explored new horizons in reaction development and chemical methodologies. He was honored with the “Jortner Prize” award and was granted the International Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) postdoctoral fellowship and the Rothschild Fellowship (Yad Hanadiv). With a strong interest in the interface of chemistry with biology, Ori’s research program focuses on developing strategies for visualizing and sensing elusive analytes and developing techniques for chemical post-transitional modification. In January 2024, he will start his independent career as a tenure-track assistant professor at the Technion, Haifa, Israel (Israel Institute of Technology).

Elad Apel

Elad Apel (Lab manager)

Elad holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering and brings extensive experience in biological, chemical, and engineering processes. As part of an independent startup focused on solid cow-waste treatment, he developed a working prototype and secured government research funding. He is deeply committed to creating sustainable solutions for the environmental challenges humanity has generated over time, emphasizing that technological progress must be paired with responsible consumer behavior to enable true ecological recovery. As our laboratory manager, Elad oversees daily operations and leads engineering-focused collaborations that support the lab’s research mission.

Rawan Shahen

Rawan Shahen (PhD)

Rawan received her B.Sc. (2020) and M.Sc. (2023) in extended chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She joined the lab of Dr. Ori Green in 2024 as a Ph.D. student in the Chemistry Department at the Technion, and today she is a Ph.D. candidate. Her research focuses on developing selective molecular sensors based on the Aza-Wittig reaction for detecting CO₂ in living cells. Beyond the lab, Rawan enjoys reading books, listening to relaxing music, cooking, and living a peaceful, balanced life. She believes that life revolves around two dreams: achieving one’s goals and savoring the joy of success.

Boaz Nutkovich

Boaz Nutkovich (PhD)

Boaz received his B.Sc. (2021) in Chemistry and Life Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed his M.Sc. (2024) in Neurobiology at the Weizmann Institute of Science. He joined the lab of Dr. Ori Green in 2024 as a Ph.D student in the chemistry department at Technion. His research focuses on developing fluorescence sensors for vivo imaging. In his free time, he enjoys reading fantasy books, hiking, and spending time with his family and friends.

Laura Levy

Laura Levy (PhD)

Laura received her B.Sc. in Chemistry (2019) from Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 (France) and her M.Sc. in Chemistry and Process Engineering (2023) from CPE Lyon. She joined the lab of Dr. Ori Green in 2024 as a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry at the Technion. Her research focuses on activity-based sensing for spatiotemporal imaging of protease activity. In her free time, she enjoys running on the beach and playing chess, a passion she has had since childhood. Laura believes that continuous learning builds a good life and keeps the mind strong and positive

Sean Adler

Sean Adler (PhD)

Sean’s research involves synthesizing fluorogenic molecular probes and exploring their chemistry and reactivity in both cellular and non-biological contexts. Apart from having fun in the lab, I enjoy reading (books, magazines, etc.) and taking walks while contemplating the meaning of life.

Anupama Yadav

Anupama Yadav (PhD)

Anupama received her Master’s degree from the University of Lucknow, after which she worked as a Research Associate with Dr. Namrata Rastogi at CSIR–CDRI. Later, she joined IISER Bhopal, where she worked with Dr. Sreenivas Katukojavala before moving to the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Currently, Anupama is investigating the Aza-Wittig reaction, with a particular focus on gaining mechanistic insights through detailed experimental studies. Her hobbies include playing badminton, painting, and reading novels.
